Top Carpet Cleaning myths

Recently Cairns Carpet Care Services listed their Top 5 carpet cleaning myths on their website.

Here is a summary of the truth behind the myths:

#1 - overcleaning carpets can destroy them - the dirt in carpets will rub against the fibres and wear the carpet down over time, so in fact NOT cleaning carpets will destroy them!

#2 - carpet cleaning only removes visible dirt - allergens such as pollen, chemicals from exhaust fumes and cigarette smoke, fungus and all sorts of other nasty things can find their way into your carpet and are only removed through cleaning.

#3 - steam cleaning can cause mould - mould occurs in damp, moist areas. Professional carpet cleaning should not oversaturate the carpet and it should dry fully in a matter of hours therefore no mould will form.

#4 - carpets will be wet for ages - most of the excess water is removed during the carpet cleaning process, and carpets will be fully dried in hours not days.

#5 - dry cleaning techniques clean better - dry cleaning can leave a residue on the carpets which can attract dirt quicker meaning they need cleaned more often.
